NETRUNNER://CCNA ("the game") is a free, non-commercial art project and study aid for people preparing for the Cisco CCNA exam. Last updated 29 September 2026 (third edition).
1. The short version
The game has one small database, a Google Sheet owned by the maker (the Watson DB). If you sign in with Google, your game record is kept there. If you play with a handle and passcode only, your record stays in your browser. We do not sell, rent or share your data. We do not use ads or trackers.
2. What the game stores
- Your game record: your handle, progress, study cards, settings and in-game items.
- If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile picture, used only to show who is signed in and to find your record.
The game does not collect your location, contacts, payment details or any other data.
2a. What goes to the maker's database
The Watson DB is a Google Sheet owned by the maker. These things can reach it:
- If you sign in with Google: your Google account id, name, email and picture, your game records, and a scrambled (hashed) copy of this device's sign-in key. The maker can see these. They are used only to sign you in and to save and load your game.
- A suggestion, only when you send one: your text, your handle, the screen you were on, how far you are and the game version.
- Anonymous progress counts, after each save: a random id (not your handle), your class, how many nights you finished and how many times you flatlined. They are only used to show totals on the sign-in page, such as how many netrunners there are.
- Your license, only when you finish the game and ask for it: your handle, the date, your class and your record's totals.
Hall of Fame. If you tick the box when you get your license, your handle, license card and record totals are published on the public Hall of Fame page and in the game's public code repository on GitHub, where they stay. If you do not tick it, nothing about you is published. To have a card taken down, email the maker.
3. Where it is stored
- If you sign in with Google: your game record is stored in the Watson DB. The game does not use your Google Drive. Your browser keeps a random sign-in key, your name, email, picture and the name of your last handle, so it remembers you until you sign out. Signing out removes them from your browser and deletes the key from the Watson DB.
- If you play with a handle and passcode only: your game record is stored in your browser (local storage), on your device.
4. Google user data
The game asks Google for these permissions: openid, email and profile.
The game does not ask for access to your Drive, Gmail or any other Google data. Data from Google is used only to
sign you in and to find your game record.
It is never sent to anyone else and is not used for ads or to train AI models.
The game's use of information received from Google APIs follows the
Google API Services User Data Policy,
including the Limited Use requirements.
5. Hosting
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log basic technical data (such as IP addresses) to run and protect its service. See GitHub's privacy statement.
6. Donations
If you choose to donate, the payment is handled by a third-party payment service under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your card or bank details. We may see the name, email and message you give that service, and use them only to say thank you.
7. Your choices
- Press SIGN OUT in the game at any time.
- Remove the game's sign-in access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Email the maker to have your records deleted from the Watson DB.
- Clear this site's data in your browser to remove the local copy.
- Email us to ask any question about your data.
8. Children
The game is not directed at children under 13. If you use Google sign-in, you must meet Google's minimum age in your country.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
